Assam CM Announces Launch of Key Infrastructural Projects in Guwahati
Guwahati, 4th February: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma On February 4 unveiled plans for various infrastructural developmental projects in Guwahati in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the state to initiate projects amounting to Rs 11,600 crore.
Commending PM Modi’s leadership in propelling Assam toward new heights of development, CM Sarma highlighted the absence of protests or agitations in the past three years. He credited PM Modi for the surrender of proscribed militant organizations, contributing to the state’s growth across sectors.
Expressing optimism about placing the state on the global map, CM Sarma mentioned that PM Modi would lay the foundation stone for key projects, marking a historic moment with an investment of Rs 11,600 crore in a single day. The projects encompass 23 medical colleges, an elevated corridor in Kaziranga, the upgradation of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, Cancer Hospitals, crucial roads and bridges, creation of 1 lakh jobs, and free rice distribution for the lower-income group.
PM Modi’s arrival in Guwahati was met with a warm welcome at the State Guest House, Koinadhara. The day began with the Prime Minister’s early arrival at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, where he received enthusiastic greetings from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and other distinguished guests.
Despite the earlier-than-scheduled arrival at 7:30 pm, PM Modi’s presence did not dampen the spirits of the large crowd that gathered to extend heartfelt greetings. The airport premises came alive with traditional dance, showcasing Assam’s vibrant cultural tapestry. The festivities continued in Khanapara with a display of 1,00,000 diyas, capturing the spirit of #PMModiInAssam.
