Assam CM Announces Mutual Transfer Facility for Grade III and IV Jobholders, Historic Change in Civil Service Exam

Guwahati, 26th July: In a significant move to enhance employee satisfaction and job flexibility, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Grade III and Grade IV jobholders in the state will soon enjoy the facility of mutual transfers. This initiative, previously available only to teachers, aims to allow employees to work in their home districts through mutual agreements.

Addressing a press conference, CM Sarma highlighted the policy’s success during his tenure as Education Minister. “Many teachers were able to work in their home district because of the mutual transfer policy I implemented. We are now extending this facility to Grade III and Grade IV employees,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also shared that over 43,000 Grade III and Grade IV jobs have been created in the past year, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving job conditions for these employees.

In another landmark announcement, CM Sarma revealed that, for the first time, the Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) will have all questions available in Assamese alongside English. This historic change, commencing with the exam on July 26, aims to make the examination more accessible to Assamese-speaking candidates.

Expressing his enthusiasm on social media, CM Sarma wrote on X, “The Combined Civil Service Examination (Main) starts tomorrow. For the first time in history, all questions will be in Assamese in addition to English, as per Govt of Assam’s instructions. Kudos to the Assam Public Service Commission for this historic move.”

These initiatives reflect the Assam government’s ongoing efforts to improve job satisfaction and accessibility, marking significant progress in the state’s administrative and educational systems.
