Assam CM Announces State Recruitment Plans Amid Flood Relief Efforts

Guwahati, 9th July Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced crucial details about upcoming state recruitment examinations during a Facebook live session, while also addressing ongoing flood relief efforts across the region. The Chief Minister detailed the schedule for the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Grade 3 and Grade 4 posts, including key dates and processes.

  • Grade 3: Preliminary exams are slated for September 15, 22, and 29, followed by mains and viva rounds.
  • Grade 4: Preliminary exams will be held on October 20 and 27, with subsequent mains and viva assessments.

The recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 7,500 Grade 3 and 4,500 Grade 4 vacancies across the state.

Sarma shared an optimistic update on flood conditions, particularly in Dibrugarh and other affected areas where the Brahmaputra River’s waters are receding. He pledged continued government support to expedite relief efforts and assist displaced residents returning from relief camps.

Ahead of the July 10 cabinet meeting, Sarma highlighted ministerial visits to flood-affected regions to assess damages and plan rehabilitation measures swiftly. He emphasized the urgency of restoring normalcy before August 15, 2024, particularly for students and families impacted by the floods.

Addressing the tragic loss of Avinash Sarkar, who drowned in a Guwahati drain, Sarma expressed condolences to the family and assured them of government assistance. He reiterated his commitment to supporting the Sarkar family and ensuring justice.

Sarma also addressed queries regarding Assam Police recruitment, confirming that physical tests are set to begin on October 3, aiming to fill 6,400 posts. This will proceed once flood-affected grounds are deemed safe for use. Additionally, he outlined plans for further recruitment in elementary and secondary education sectors in 2025, acknowledging the extended timelines for secondary education examinations.

The Chief Minister’s announcements underline the state’s commitment to both managing immediate flood relief and continuing long-term development and recruitment efforts, ensuring progress across multiple fronts amidst challenging circumstances.
