Assam CM Applauds Success of Golaghat Book Fair in Promoting Literature among Youth
Guwahati, 2nd December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the success of the Golaghat Book Fair and Literary Festival 2023, commending the organizers for bringing together five thousand students who performed a popular song on the inaugural day.
The book fair’s inauguration on November 29 featured students from various educational institutions singing ‘Puhar Bisari Jao,’ a song by Paragdhar Chaliha. CM Sarma, addressing the gathering during his visit, applauded the organizers for this remarkable feat.
He acknowledged the book fair’s role in fostering a literary environment among the new generation in Golaghat. CM Sarma commended the West Golaghat Sahitya Sabha for holding the fair at Samannay Kshetra for the first time and creating history on the inaugural day itself.
“The Golaghat Book Fair has played a commendable role in the cultural life of the people of Golaghat. It is a prominent event in the development of the social and cultural life of Golaghat,” stated CM Sarma.
Despite a busy schedule, CM Sarma attended the fair at the invitation of Diganta Bhuyan and Dipen Dutta. He expressed gratitude to publishers from Kolkata, Delhi, Haryana, and various parts of Assam for their participation, emphasizing the fair’s significance with over 142 stalls.
The Golaghat Book Fair, continuing until December 6 at Samannay Kshetra in Golaghat town, features special arrangements for the exhibition of the Braille edition and the biorefinery model of the Numaligarh refinery for student study. The fair aims to strengthen the literary spirit of the state.
