Assam CM Attributes State Welfare Schemes to Women’s Empowerment and Reduced Unemployment in state
Guwahati, 7th December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma credited the substantial increase in the female workforce to the government’s welfare initiatives, which have empowered and encouraged women across the state.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to ‘Nari-Shakti,’ CM Sarma highlighted in a statement on X that various welfare programs have played a pivotal role in reducing the unemployment rate in the state. According to figures shared by CM Sarma, the unemployment rate was initially 9.7% in October-December 2022 but has risen to 18.7% for the period of April-June 2023.
It is worth noting that the BJP-led government in Assam, under the leadership of CM Sarma, has prioritized job creation, aiming to provide 1 lakh jobs in the state. Regular announcements of job vacancies in various government offices are part of the ongoing efforts to fulfill this commitment.
