Assam CM Briefs Prime Minister on Flood Situation, Reports Improvement

Guwahati, July 22 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the ongoing flood crisis in the state. During the meeting, Sarma updated the Prime Minister on the current flood situation and various mitigation efforts in progress.

On the microblogging site ‘X’, CM Sarma shared details of the meeting, stating, “Had the absolute privilege of seeking the blessings and guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji today.” He also informed the Prime Minister about the status of ongoing developmental works and extended congratulations on Modi’s historic third term.

According to the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood situation in Assam has improved. The number of affected people has decreased to 95,000 across 11 districts. The death toll from this year’s floods, landslides, storms, and lightning stands at 113, with 98 fatalities attributed specifically to the deluge.

Currently, 345 villages across 21 revenue circles remain impacted by the floods. The state continues to work on relief and restoration efforts to aid those affected.
