Assam CM: Congress high command, Punjab CM conspired to kill PM Modi
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, claimed that the Congress high command and his Punjab counterpart conspired to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the northern state on January 5.
He requested that Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi be arrested for his role in the alleged scheme.
While addressing a press conference today, Sarma stated “All evidence makes it evident that the Congress high command and Punjab CM conspired to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He was referring to a rumored sting operation by a Punjabi television station, which started on January 2 that the Punjabi police had received an intelligence report about an attempted assassination of the prime minister.
Sarma further alleged that statements made by Congress leaders in the aftermath of the tragedy showed they were aware of the “plot.”
It may be mentioned that Modi, who arrived in Punjab on January 5 and had to take the road route to Hussainiwala in Ferozepur on Wednesday due to bad weather, was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes due to a roadblock by some farmers, an occurrence the Union Home Ministry described as a “serious breach” in his protection.
