Assam CM Criticizes Congress for Declining Ram Temple Invitation

Guwahati, 11th January: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized Congress senior leaders for declining the invitation to the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple. He argued that the Congress party did not deserve the invitation due to their historical views against the Ram Mandir.

In a strong statement, CM Sarma called the Congress party anti-Hindu and stated, “By accepting this invitation, they could have symbolically offered an apology to the Hindu Samaj. However, like Pt Nehru did with the Somnath Temple, the Congress leadership did the same with the Ram Temple. History will continue to judge them as an anti-Hindu party.”

Earlier, Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party President Mallikarjun Kharge had announced their decision not to attend the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22. The Congress party labeled the event as predominantly an RSS/BJP affair, emphasizing their respect for the Supreme Court’s 2019 judgment and the religious sentiments of millions who worship Lord Ram, while also highlighting the perceived political undertones in the event’s timing.
