Assam CM Criticizes Gaurav Gogoi’s Actions During Religious Events
Guwahati, 12th April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently questioned the religious stance of Gaurav Gogoi, a Congress MP, during a media interaction. Sarma raised concerns about Gogoi’s participation in Eid celebrations while apparently neglecting the consecration of the Ram Mandir.
Sarma highlighted Gogoi’s absence during the Ram Mandir consecration, noting his presence at a protest with Rahul Gandhi in Nagaon instead. He questioned why Gogoi didn’t display the same religious fervor during the temple event as he did during Eid celebrations.
The CM emphasized the need for equal respect towards all religious events and criticized Gogoi for what he perceived as selective participation. Sarma stressed the importance of addressing the issues faced by Assamese Muslims through means such as state government jobs, quality education, and combating child marriage.
Furthermore, Sarma accused Gogoi of neglecting his community’s interests and questioned his absence during controversial remarks made by the APCC president. Sarma claimed that Gogoi’s actions have raised doubts within the Hindu community about his respect for his own religious community.
