Assam CM directs all BJP leaders to withdraw their PSOs
Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, has directed all BJP leaders to withdraw their Personal Security Officers (PSOs) starting from January 1, 2022.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister has asked MLAs to lessen protection around them, removing the long line of convoys that used to follow them on the roadways.
Also, the State Government’s Cabinet Ministers would only have house guards for their principal residence and their respective constituency residence. Ministers used to have security officers assigned to their various mansions throughout the state. From January 1, 2022, this will likewise be the case.
Subrata Bhattacharjee, the BJP President of Karimganj, is the first BJP official to give up his PSO at the Chief Minister’s request.
“Every karykarta in BJP is devoted to values of humility & connectivity with people pursuing ideals espoused by Hon PM Sri Narendra Modi,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
