Assam CM dubs FIR by Jharkhand MLA ‘fake’

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday referred to the FIR that Jharkhand Congress MLA Kumar Jaimangal had filed against him as “false.”

Sarma launched a volley against the opposition party based on the Bofors scam in the midst of the present political drama in Jharkhand.

Jaimangal has filed a complaint against Sarma in Jharkhand, alleging that three party legislators, Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap, and Naman Bixal Kongari, who were detained in West Bengal with a significant amount of cash, also offered him a trip to Guwahati to meet the Assam chief minister and strike a deal in order to topple the JMM-led government in his State.

“Fake FIR in Jharkhand. The so-called FIR looks like @INCIndia asking Ottavio Quattrocchi to file a case against Bofors,” Sarma tweeted.

Meanwhile, senior cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika posted images of the Assam chief minister and Jaimangal while claiming that the two were in contact frequently and that the Jharkhand MLA’s allegations were “baseless.”

“Jharkhand Cong MLA @KumarJaimangal made a fake allegation that the 3 arrested MLA’s had lured him to meet Hon’ble CM Dr.@himantabiswa sir. 5 days before filing the fabricated FIR, Hon’ble CM Dr.@himantabiswa sir took him to the Residence of the Hon’ble Union Coal Minister Shri @JoshiPralhad ji at 9 am of 26th July, 2022 in order to help him in his trade union related matter (sic),” Hazarika tweeted, sharing photographs of Sarma and Jaimangal with Joshi.

Hazarika further said that the Jharkhand MLA “should face the law for making a fraudulent allegation against” Sarma. “Mr. @KumarJaimangal has been regularly meeting HCM Dr.@himantabiswa sir. He should face the law for making a fraudulent allegation against Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam and against those tribal MLAs (sic),” Hazarika added.
