Assam CM Emphasizes Non-Political Approach to Drug Eradication Amid Dhubri Raid

Guwahati, 27th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted the importance of treating drug eradication as a non-political issue, calling for a united approach from all political parties and robust law enforcement measures.

In his statement, Sarma emphasized, “The issue of drug eradication is non-political. Law enforcement must adopt a strict approach, and it is imperative that all parties, including the opposition, support the police in this fight.”

His remarks follow a major police operation in Dhubri district on July 25, where authorities, under Golakganj Police Station’s jurisdiction, uncovered an illicit drug operation. During the raid, police arrested Ajjal Hussain from Chagolia Part I village. Hussain is accused of illegal narcotic sales and distribution, breaching the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
