Assam CM expresses grief over demise of music maestro Bhupen Uzir
Guwahati, 10th January: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expresses deep sorrow at the demise of Bhupen Uzir, a stalwart in Assam’s music industry.
Taking to platform X, Assam CM wrote, “I am saddened to hear of the passing away of Bhupen Uji, a renowned personality in the music industry of Assam. He was a musician who made a great contribution to the cultural world of Assam through his long career in music. The death of Bhupen Uzir, who fascinated several generations through his music, is an irreparable loss to our cultural world. I wish him eternal peace and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and admirers of Uzir”.
The Chief Minister acknowledges Uzir’s substantial contributions to the state’s cultural landscape and extends condolences to the bereaved family and admirers.
The passing of music director Bhupen Uzir, who captivated generations, is mourned by the Assamese music community. Uzir battled a prolonged illness and succumbed on January 9, leaving the state in mourning as it faces an emotional start to the New Year.
