Assam CM Expresses Intent to Implement Uniform Civil Code, Drawing Inspiration from Uttarakhand and Gujarat

Guwahati, 11th January: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expresses keenness to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam, following the lead of Uttarakhand and Gujarat.

CM Sarma outlines that Assam will bring a similar bill with additions, ensuring tribal community exemptions under the UCC. The UCC aims to establish a uniform set of personal laws for all citizens, promoting equality and justice.

CM Sarma encourages Assam residents to light diyas at home during the ‘Pran Prathishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

Additionally, he announces a Swachh Abhiyan (Cleanliness Campaign) in all religious institutions in the state from January 16 to 19.

As preparations intensify for the significant “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony at the Ram Temple, scheduled for January 22, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust plans elaborate Vedic rituals starting from January 16.

The festivities in Ayodhya, marking the Amrit Mahotsav from January 14 to January 22, will celebrate this momentous occasion, adding to the city’s deep-rooted spiritual, historical, and cultural importance as the birthplace of Lord Rama.
