Assam CM: Good Samaritans Can Adopt Anganwadi Centres And Offer Aid
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that anyone can now adopt Anganwadi centres and care for the residents there, as he opened a centre in Palashbari on Sunday.
CM Sarma was present at Palashbari near Mirza in the outskirts of Guwahati where he inaugurated Model Anganwadi Centre at Kaitasidhi (A) under Chayani Barduar ICDS Project.
He practically opened another 1000 centres around the state from there, joined by Assam cabinet member Chandra Mohan Patowary, state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, MP Queen Oja, and Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuriya, among others.
Speaking on the occassion, CM Sarma said, “In the following days, 2000 more anganwadi centres will be launched, and by 2026, we hope to inaugurate 15,000 anganwadi centres across Assam.”
He added, “In Palashbari, 16 new anganwadi centres have been opened.
The assam Chief minister further said that kindhearted people will now be permitted to adopt such centres and care for the residents there.
From now on, CM Sarma said, “People can adopt Anganwadi Centres and if anyone wishes to offer any aid, they can do so. The government will anyway provide all the necessities.”
The chief minister spoke with the children at the centre as well.
