Assam CM & Governor Welcomes President Murmu in Tezpur
Guwahati: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Tezpur Assam on Thursday to begin her three-day visit to Assam.
She was greeted at the Tezpur Airport by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Taking to Twitter, CM Sarma wrote, “Welcome to Assam, Adarniya Rashtrapati ji. We are so honoured to have your august presence and blessings”.
During her three-day trip to Assam, President Murmu is slated to attend Kaziranga Gaj Utsav as the chief guest.
President Murmu will watch and take in the beautiful vistas of the public park on an elephant and jeep safari.
Every year Kaziranga Gaj Utsav is celebrated in the national park to support the preservation and protection of Asian elephants.
The tourism and forest departments together organised it with the intention of drawing attention to and resolving the state’s escalating conflict between people and elephants.
In addition, President Murmu will be present at the platinum jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court which got underway on Wednesday.
As part of her two-day trip to Assam President Murmu will also attend the Gauhati High Court’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Friday. The Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud will also be present at the event.
