Assam CM grants one-time financial assistance to 8562 priests & namghorias

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister handed one-time financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to 8562 priests and namghorias at Janata Bhawan in Dispur on Tuesday.

In total, the government spent 8,56,20,000 crore.

This comes after the Assam Cabinet resolved to provide state-wide temple priests and Namghorias a one-time financial grant on November 5.

The temple priests and Namghorias who struggled during the COVID-19 outbreak received the financial grant.

Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta had stated that the government would launch an online registration gateway after the cabinet’s decision was announced.

“The cabinet approved Assam Migrant Workers’ Food Security Scheme will provide dry ration to Covid-19 affected migrant workers. Under the scheme, the migrant workers will get rice, dal, mustard oil, and salt”, Keshab Mahanta had said.

“District administrations will distribute dry ration based on the data of migrant workers available on the e-SHRAM portal and other available resources”, he added.

He added that based on the information on migrant workers that is available on the e-SHRAM portal and other resources, the district administrations would issue dry rations.
