Assam CM Hails Peaceful Lok Sabha Elections, Expects Strong Results for BJP and Allies
Guwahati, 7th May: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the peaceful conduct of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state, emphasizing the absence of violence or disturbances during polling.
After exercising his franchise, Sarma expressed confidence in a favorable outcome for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance partners, predicting a resounding victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing reporters, Sarma remarked, “There has been no violence or any disturbance during polls in the state. I believe that BJP and its alliance partners will get a good result. People will vote for progress in this area. East India and northeastern states will play a historic role in this election. We will see a landslide win for the Prime Minister.”
Dismissive of any prospects for repolling in Assam, the chief minister lauded the electorate for their loyal participation in the democratic process, extending gratitude for their contribution to the festival of democracy.
Meanwhile, the voter turnout in the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam during the third phase stood at 45.88% by 1 pm, with Dhubri recording the highest turnout at 47.73%, followed by Barpeta at 46.83%, Kokrajhar at 46.43%, and Guwahati at 42.13%.
