Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Assesses Flood Relief Efforts in Displaced Camps

Guwahati, 5th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited two flood relief camps in the state to assess the conditions and needs of displaced residents. The camps, located at Pithubor Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Khowang Higher Secondary School, currently house 173 and 380 flood-affected individuals, respectively.

During his inspection, Sarma reviewed the daily necessities provided to the camp inhabitants. He issued directives to the district administration to ensure the availability of essential items, including medical facilities, safe drinking water, and clothing for those affected by the floods.

The chief minister addressed the concerns of the displaced residents, assuring them that the government would not only distribute relief materials but also take swift action to repair or rebuild homes damaged by the flooding. This commitment aims to expedite the process of returning affected families to their residences once flood waters recede.

The ongoing flood situation in Assam is a recurring challenge that affects thousands of residents annually. As the monsoon season progresses, the Assam government continues to monitor the situation closely, with plans to extend support to other affected areas as needed.
