Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Celebrates Durga Puja in Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Bongaigaon
Guwahati: On the auspicious occasion of Navami during Durga Puja, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm in the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Bongaigaon on Friday.
The Chief Minister’s participation in the vibrant festivities highlighted the significance of the festival in the region.
The celebrations began in Kokrajhar Town, where Sarma visited the historic 154th Durga Puja festival in Boro Bazaar. He sought blessings from Goddess Durga and actively participated in the worship ceremonies, embodying the spirit of unity and devotion.
Sarma also visited several notable Puja venues, including the Dipotroad Durga Bari Puja, Subhashpuli Sarbajanin Durga Puja, Shanti Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja, and Gour Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro and MLA Lawrence Islary, who joined him in the celebrations and rituals, further emphasizing the communal harmony during the festival.
Addressing the residents of Kokrajhar, CM Sarma extended his warm wishes, saying, “I hope Goddess Durga dispels obstacles and brings peace and prosperity to all citizens of Assam.”
After his engagements in Kokrajhar, Sarma continued to spread the festive cheer, participating in Durga Puja celebrations in the neighboring districts of Chirang and Bongaigaon, reinforcing the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the festival across Assam.
