Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Credits Odisha’s Support for BJP’s Landslide Victory
Guwahati, 6th June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attributed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) resounding victory in Odisha’s Lok Sabha elections to the “love and affection” of the people of the state. Sarma, who actively campaigned across 16 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha, expressed his gratitude in a tweet on June 6.
Reflecting on his campaign experience, Sarma stated, “The love and affection of the people of Odisha are still in my memory. Mahaprabhu Jagannath will surely bless Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and the new BJP government in Odisha.” His remarks highlighted the deep connection he felt with the electorate during his time in the state.
The BJP achieved an unprecedented sweep in Odisha, winning 20 out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats, a significant shift in a region traditionally dominated by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress party. This electoral success underscores the party’s growing influence and acceptance in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming support from Odisha, tweeting, “Thank you Odisha! It’s a resounding victory for good governance and celebrating Odisha’s unique culture. BJP will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling the dreams of people and taking Odisha to new heights of progress.”
The BJP’s decisive victory in Odisha is seen as a testament to its successful campaign strategies and the effective outreach by leaders like Sarma, marking a significant milestone in the party’s quest for broader national influence.
