Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Criticizes Congress for Disrespecting Rani Laxmibai by Placing Her Photo Below Congress Leaders in state

Guwahati, 9th November: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress party for allegedly insulting the iconic figure of India’s freedom struggle, Rani Laxmibai.

Sharing a tweet on his official Twitter handle, CM Sarma stated, “First I was shocked how could a leader from MP insult one of our biggest icons just to appease the family. But frankly speaking such behaviour is common among most Cong leaders, their high command considers this as a badge of honour”.

Sarma pointed out that Congress had placed a photo of Rani Laxmibai at the bottom, while photos of Congress leaders were displayed at the top.

He expressed his shock at this behavior, suggesting it’s not an isolated incident but common among many Congress leaders.

The controversy stems from a photo shared on September 16, 2020, where Congress leaders’ photos were given prominence over the image of Rani Laxmibai, known for her significant role in India’s fight for independence.
