Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Criticizes Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Over Semiconductor Industry Remarks
Guwahati, 30th September: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly rebuked Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge for his comments regarding the establishment of semiconductor industries in Assam. Kharge had expressed concerns about the viability of such industries in the northeastern state, which prompted Sarma’s response during a public address.
Sarma challenged Kharge’s remarks by asking, “Is Assam not a part of India?” He expressed his discontent with Kharge’s objections to the semiconductor industry development, stating, “If an industry is coming to Assam, why is he opposing it? Such comments are not only uncalled for but insensitive.”
The Chief Minister underscored the necessity of national unity in fostering economic growth and distributing industries across various regions. He urged Kharge to act with greater responsibility, especially given his political stature, remarking, “When your father holds the position of president of a national political party, your responsibilities increase. One must refrain from making divisive statements.”
Sarma concluded by emphasizing the importance of collaborative development throughout India, highlighting the need for supportive dialogue rather than divisive comments in the pursuit of progress.
