Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Forecasts Radical Shift in Congress Demographics
Guwahati, 27th March: During his address in Dibrugarh on Tuesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a bold assertion, proclaiming a significant demographic shift within the Congress party. Sarma confidently stated, “there will be no Hindus in Congress after 2026, and no Muslims by 2032.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks came during the nomination filing for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, where he accompanied Sarbananda Sonowal in filing his nomination from the Dibrugarh LS seat. Addressing the press, Sarma highlighted the substantial number of Congress members defecting to the BJP, suggesting an impending exodus from the Congress party.
Sarma emphasized the increasing trend of Congress members joining the BJP, predicting a scenario where there will be empty rooms in the Rajiv Bhawan, the Congress headquarters, with no candidates to occupy them. He underscored the prevailing political environment in Assam, characterized by shifting loyalties and party affiliations.
Amidst heightened political tensions, Sarma hinted at a more aggressive stance, suggesting that the trend of Congress members joining the BJP will intensify with Narendra Modi’s potential re-election as Prime Minister. Sarma asserted that the Congress party will be rendered obsolete by 2032 under this trajectory.
