Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Holds Crucial Meeting with Intelligence Bureau Director
Guwahati, December 15: In a pivotal development, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engaged in a significant meeting with Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Kumar Deka, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between state and central intelligence agencies.
Reports indicate that this high-level interaction took place at the Assam House in Delhi, following Chief Minister Sarma’s closed-door meetings with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Home Minister Amit Shah on December 13.
Sarma had earlier expressed the state government’s intention to initiate peace talks with the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA-I) post-Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting between Sarma and Deka likely delved into critical issues related to Assam’s security and development. Discussions may have encompassed counter-terrorism measures, intelligence sharing, and strategies to enhance the safety and prosperity of Assam’s citizens.

In a related development, NIA Chief Dinkar Gupta, formerly associated with Congress leaders, met with Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. These meetings unfolded a day after the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) claimed responsibility for the blast in the Lichubari Army camp in Jorhat, adding complexity to the evolving situation.
