Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Lambasts Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
Guwahati, 15th May: During a recent political campaign in New Delhi on May 14, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma didn’t hold back in his criticism of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, referring to him as a “chor” (thief).
Sarma accused Kejriwal of opportunism, alleging that he frequently shifts alliances for personal gain, thereby lacking political integrity. In a scathing remark, Sarma invoked activist Anna Hazare’s purported statement, suggesting that Hazare had anticipated Kejriwal’s involvement in corrupt practices.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma further accused Kejriwal of aligning with the Congress party for political advantages, asserting, “Kejriwal himself is a thief, but he claims others are thieves.”
In addition, Sarma condemned Kejriwal for his alleged involvement in physical altercations, referencing incidents involving the beating of the Chief Secretary and a Rajya Sabha member. He called for action from the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, urging an investigation into Kejriwal’s conduct.
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal previously alleged that Kejriwal’s personal assistant assaulted her at the Delhi CM’s behest. Sarma echoed her concerns, urging the Vice President to intervene and initiate a probe into the matter.
Sarma’s remarks underscore the escalating tensions between political leaders, highlighting the need for accountability and ethical conduct in public office.
