Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Lashes Out at Arvind Kejriwal

Guwahati: Chief minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal on April 2 stating that since Lachit Barphukan did not extend any hospitality to Aurangzeb, Kejriwal should not anticipate the same treatment from him in Assam.

Arvind Kejriwal is criticised by the chief minister of Assam for allegedly not showing Aurangzeb any hospitality.

CM Sarma was addressing a conference where he made the remark stating, “Yes, we do provide hospitality in Assam. We consider guests as God. But when Mughal emperor Aurangzeb came here, then Lachit Barphukan did not provide any hospitality to him. So when Kejriwal arrived here just to speak lies so why should we consider him as a guest? He came here, we provided him security. But when I go there does he provide the same?”

The outburst was in response to Kejriwal’s assertion that his administration had given 12 lakh people in Delhi jobs despite having just 1.5 lakh workers in the health and education sectors and 50,000 in other departments. Sarma disputed Kejriwal’s assertions claiming that he had spoken to authorities from the Delhi government and received confirmation that there were only 1.5 lakh open positions. He also challenged Kejriwal to explain where the other 10.5 lakh employees and posts were.

Sarma also noted that while Kejriwal claimed to have offered free electricity in Delhi, inhabitants of that city only received Rs. 300 in electricity benefits from Assam’s Orunodoi scheme which gave people Rs. 1,400.
Assam Chief Minister also took a dig at Kejriwal’s claims of providing jobs in Punjab stating that he would provide one lakh jobs in Assam. Sarma also accused the Congress of being behind the recent question paper leak during class 12 exams in Punjab.
