Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Launches Mission Basundhara 3.0 to Expand Land Reforms

Guwahati– Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched Mission Basundhara 3.0 today, marking a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to secure land rights for its indigenous population.

Following the success of the first two phases, which positively impacted over 10 lakh beneficiaries, this new phase is poised to further enhance land reforms across the state.

“Taking forward the successes of Mission Basundhara, we will launch Mission Basundhara 3.0 to provide land pattas,” Sarma announced, emphasizing the importance of the initiative in resolving long-standing land-related issues.

This new phase will not only focus on revisiting pending applications from earlier editions but also extend its scope to include granting land pattas (land ownership documents) to social and religious institutions, such as Mandirs, Naamghars, schools, and crematoriums.

A key highlight of Mission Basundhara 3.0 is the introduction of reforms aimed at addressing the land rights concerns of residents in Guwahati’s hill areas, where reduced premium rates will be offered for land pattas.

In addition, digital services will streamline land settlement processes for non-individual juridical entities, ensuring greater efficiency in reclassification and settlement matters.

The launch of Mission Basundhara 3.0 represents a significant leap forward in Assam’s land reform agenda, offering long-awaited relief and security to communities and institutions alike.
