Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Mourns the Death of Former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee

Guwahati, 8th August: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, praising the CPI(M) leader as a stalwart in public service. In a statement on ‘X’, Sarma highlighted Bhattacharjee’s extensive career spanning over five decades as an MLA, minister, and chief minister, noting his significant impact on public life.

Sarma also commended Bhattacharjee’s simplicity, contributions to Bengali literature, and dedication to community service. He extended his heartfelt condolences to Bhattacharjee’s family and supporters, concluding with, “Om Shanti.”

Bhattacharjee passed away on Thursday in Kolkata after a prolonged illness.
