Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Pays Tribute to Police Personnel on Police Commemoration Day

Guwahati– On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid homage to police personnel who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

In his tribute, Sarma praised the unwavering dedication of police forces in maintaining law and order across the country.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the police fraternity, stating, “Our brave Police personnel are on duty 24/7 to maintain law & order and help citizens lead a secure life. Thousands of police personnel have laid their lives to keep us secure.” He added, “On #PoliceCommemorationDay, my tributes to the entire police fraternity for their yeoman service.”

Earlier in the day, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Tapan Kumar Deka, paid homage to martyrs during a ceremony at the National Police Memorial. Addressing the gathering, Deka lauded the bravery and sacrifice of police personnel who lost their lives while protecting the country. “Today, on Police Commemoration Day, we gather to honor the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country last year,” Deka said, paying respect to their valor.

Police Commemoration Day is observed annually on October 21 to honor the memory of ten Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who were killed in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh on this day in 1959. Since then, the day has been dedicated to commemorating the ultimate sacrifice made by police officers across the nation.

The solemn occasion serves as a reminder of the dedication and courage exhibited by police forces who continue to work tirelessly to ensure public safety and security.
