Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a high-level meeting on November 20 to propel transformative changes in the state’s education sector, including the development of “leader schools.”

The proposed leader schools aim to set new benchmarks in education by integrating advanced infrastructure, technology-enabled teaching, and holistic learning approaches. The initiative, supported by the World Bank, is designed to create an inclusive and community-driven education system, ensuring quality learning for students across the state.

The Chief Minister also reviewed progress on several student-centric schemes, including the distribution of scooties, tablets, and bicycles to enhance access to education. He highlighted the significance of the Anundoram Borooah Award, which honors academic excellence among students.

Additionally, preparations for the upcoming teacher recruitment examination were evaluated to address staffing shortages in schools and streamline the recruitment process.

These steps underline the Assam government’s commitment to elevating education standards and fostering a future-ready generation.
