Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Stands by BJP Workers in Jharkhand After Poll Defeat

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed unwavering support for BJP workers in Jharkhand following the party’s defeat in the state assembly elections. In a heartfelt video message shared on social media, Sarma assured workers of his solidarity and urged them to view the setback as a stepping stone for future success.

“The safety and well-being of our workers in Jharkhand remain my top priority,” Sarma said. “This friend from Assam will always stand with you.”

Sarma, who served as the BJP’s state in-charge during the campaign, acknowledged the disappointing results but maintained an optimistic outlook. “Though we couldn’t achieve victory this time, setbacks like these often pave the way for future triumphs,” he remarked, framing the loss as an opportunity to strengthen the party’s groundwork in the state.

The election results delivered a decisive win for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance. JMM secured 34 seats, with Congress, its coalition partner, winning 16. The BJP managed 21 seats, while its allies—AJSUP, JD(U), and LJP (Ram Vilas)—secured one seat each.

In his message, Sarma also voiced concerns about alleged infiltration in Jharkhand, calling on the state government to take action. “The issue of infiltrators must be addressed. It is a pressing concern, and we will ensure it remains on the political agenda,” he asserted, signaling that BJP would focus on this as an opposition party.

Concluding on a personal note, the Assam Chief Minister extended warm regards to BJP workers in Jharkhand. “Your affection will always remain close to my heart. Remember, you have a friend in Assam who will welcome you whenever you visit,” he said, reinforcing his commitment to the party and its workers despite the electoral loss.
