Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Urges Voter Turnout for Fifth Phase of Lok Sabha Elections

Guwahati, 20th May: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called upon citizens to participate actively in the fifth phase of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Encouraging a high voter turnout, CM Sarma emphasized the importance of this democratic event in a post on the microblogging site X.

“I call upon all the citizens, whose constituencies are going to poll today on the 5th phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, to turn out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right,” wrote Sarma. He particularly encouraged young voters to participate, highlighting their crucial role in the democratic process. “I especially call upon my young friends to be a part of this festival of democracy,” he added.

Polling began today across 49 constituencies in six states and two Union Territories. This phase is significant as it will decide the electoral fate of prominent leaders, including former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani, and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Since morning, voters have been lining up at polling stations, reflecting the significance of this crucial phase in the Lok Sabha elections.
