Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Abandoned Sugar Mill in Dergaon

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the abandoned sugar mill factory in Barua Bamun Gaon village of Golaghat’s Dergaon as part of a day-long schedule.

During his visit, he announced plans to construct concrete embankments around the abandoned land, paving the way for industrial development.

The Chief Minister stated that arrangements for setting up industries will be made after the embankments are constructed. This move is expected to boost the local economy and create new opportunities for the residents of Dergaon.

Sarma also addressed the issue of families residing in the quarters of the chemical factory. Currently, around 20 families are living in the area, and the Chief Minister has assured their resettlement. This move aims to improve the living conditions of these families and provide them with better amenities.

The Chief Minister’s visit comes after the success of Advantage Assam 2.0, which saw many companies applying for land in the state. This growing interest in Assam’s industrial landscape is expected to drive economic growth and development in the region. With the construction of embankments and setting up of industries, Dergaon is poised to become a hub for industrial activity.
