Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Compassionate Gesture Towards Flood-Affected Divyang Draws Praise

Guwahati, 5th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s compassionate gesture towards a Divyang affected by the ongoing floods in the state has garnered widespread praise and appreciation. During his assessment of the flood situation, the Chief Minister encountered a divyang struggling with the challenges posed by the floods. Moved by the plight of the individual, Sarma offered a financial aid of Rs 500, a gesture that held profound significance for the recipient.

Taking to the microblogging site X, Sarma expressed his empathy, stating, “Today I met a divyang suffering from floods in Assam.” He further expressed solidarity with affected families, affirming, “We stand firmly with families who have either lost their loved ones or sources of livelihood due to the ongoing #AssamFloods.”

In his outreach efforts, Sarma visited flood-affected areas like Majuli, personally connecting with numerous affected individuals. He assured a swift resolution to their grievances, stating, “We are implementing a time-bound process to settle all claims.”

Acknowledging the impact of the floods on local fauna and flora, Sarma highlighted the resilience of Assam’s ecosystem, noting, “The #AssamFloods are tough on our animals and livestock. These heartwarming stories of rescue exemplify the integral role of animals and plants in Assam’s society.”
