Assam CM In Delhi: PM Modi Inspires Us To Bring Our Unsung Heroes To Light
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi consistently motivates people by bringing the nation’s history and unsung heroes to light.
Speaking at Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birthday celebration, the Chief Minister remarked, “We are constantly motivated by PM Modi to recognise the unsung heroes in our history. This is our feeble attempt to tell the nation about the illustrious story of Lachit Borphukan. Government efforts alone, however, are insufficient; people and historians should also contribute.”
He claimed that India is not merely the story of Aurangzeb, Babar, Jahangir, or Humayun but also of Lachit Borphukan, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Guru Gobind Singh, and Durgadas Rathore.
“Humble request to historians: the history of India is not solely centred on Humayun, Babar, Aurangzeb, or Jahangir. India is the land of Durgadas Rathore, Guru Gobind Singh, Lachit Borphukan, and Chhatrapati Shivaji. We should try to view things differently. Our aspiration of becoming a Vishwa Guru will come true “said the Assam CM.
According to Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, PM Modi’s call for self-reliance was a tribute to Lachit Borphukan.
“PM Modi, the mantra of self-reliance you provided to the nation through the ‘Make in India’ programme, in my opinion, is your tribute to Lachit Borphukan as the weapons and apparatus he used in the struggle against the Mughals were all created by the people of Assam,” he said.
“I think that the journey of Atmanirbhar Bharat began then and today you have encouraged the citizens to promote it before the world,” added Sonowal.
Chief Minister of Assam Sarma also congratulated PM Modi at the 400th anniversary commemoration of Lachit Borphukan’s birth in Delhi.
The 400th Birth Anniversary celebration of Lachit Borphukan was held in Delhi, and attendees included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Governor Jagadish Mukhi, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and others.
Prior to that, PM Modi and the Assam Chief Minister went to the exhibition that was held in conjunction with Lachit Borphukan’s 400th birthday celebration.
Lachit Borphukan, who was born on November 24th, 1622, in Charaideo, was renowned for his amazing military acumen in the Battle of Saraighat victory over the Mughals, which put an end to Aurangzeb’s growing ambitions.
Every year on November 24, Assam celebrates Lachit Diwas to honour Lachit Borphukan’s bravery and the Assamese army’s victory at the Battle of Saraighat.
On the occasion of the leader’s 400th birthday, the Center at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi arranged a signature event to highlight the life of one of the greatest warriors of eastern India and honour his accomplishments outside of his native state.
