Assam: CM Inaugurates Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Guwahati Bihu Sanmilani at Latasil playground on Thursday.
Sarma inaugurated the Bihu by hoisting a flag.
The chief minister also extended the people of Assam Bihu greetings.
Greeting the people on the occasion of Rongali Bihu, “Rongali Bihu is the life of Assamese. Our national legacy is carried by Bihu. I implore Assamese people to live in peace and harmony.”
“We’ll keep the divisions in mind as we move forward.” We shall work for the greater good of the country, putting aside personal interests. CM Sarma stated, “We shall have to keep the Bihu traditions intact.”
CM Sarma further stated that the Rongali Bihu customs must be upheld in the future as well.
The sound of dhol and pepa, a traditional musical instrument, can be heard throughout Assam as the state prepares to celebrate Rongali Bihu, the Assamese New Year, which begins tomorrow.
Due to the pandemic, Bihu celebrations have been somewhat quiet in the last two years. This time, though, the administration has removed all restrictions for celebrations.
The state government has also provided ‘Bihu financial aid’ to the Bihu organisers, with each Bihu committee receiving a grant of Rs. 1.50 lakh.
Bihu committees with a budget of 20 to 40 lakh rupees are also returned. The budget has been increased as a result of the price increase.
