Assam CM Inaugurates Monumental Solar Plant in Sonitpur

Guwahati, 10th March: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to the microblogging site X to announce the inauguration of a groundbreaking solar plant in Sonitpur, underscoring the state’s commitment to renewable energy. Sharing the news, the chief minister stated, “Today in Sonitpur, I performed the bhumi pujan of a Rs 300 cr, 50 MW solar plant.”

In a remarkable feat, Assam has laid the groundwork for an impressive 130 MW of solar power within the last seven days alone, catapulting the state towards its ambitious goal of becoming a green energy hub. Chief Minister Sarma reiterated the state’s vision, aiming to generate 3000 MW of Surya Shakti by 2028.

Continuing his momentum of welfare initiatives, Chief Minister Sarma also inaugurated Assam Government’s inaugural Model Residential School in Sonitpur, underscoring the state’s dedication to nurturing its youth. “Giving wings to our children,” he remarked, emphasizing the pivotal role of quality education in shaping the future generation.

In addition to these monumental unveilings, Chief Minister Sarma pledged significant investments towards the welfare of Sonitpur District, with projects totaling over Rs 1370 cr.
