Assam CM Inaugurates New Flyover at Guwahati’s Arya Nagar
Guwahati: The two-lane flyover at Arya Nagar in Guwahati was inaugurated by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday.
A flyover has been built next to Arya Vidyapeeth College to make it easier for commuters to go through traffic.
The 790 metre long flyover’s construction cost came to just about Rs 150 crores.
The foundation stone of the flyover was laid on February 26, 2021, just before the 2021 Assembly elections. The flyover was supposed to be finished in 30 months. The flyover was supposed to be finished by August 2023, however it took only 20 months to complete.
The flyover features vibrant artwork of assamese freedom fighters. The Battle of Saraighat and the Kaziranga National Park will also be visible to visitors.
In an earlier statement, CM Sarma said that the flyover would be officially opened before the T20 match between South Africa and India to avoid traffic bottlenecks during the game.
Notably, the T20 encounter between South Africa and India will take place at the Barsapara Stadium on October 2.
