Assam CM Initiates Rs 140 Crore Rang Ghar Beautification Project to Preserve Historical Legacy

Guwahati, 1st February: In a significant step towards safeguarding Assam’s cultural heritage, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates the “Ban-Phi and Bhumipujan” program for the “Construction of the Historical Rang Ghar Beautification Project.”

Asia’s oldest surviving amphitheatre, the Rang Ghar, constructed 280 years ago, holds profound historical and cultural importance for Assam. Chief Minister Sarma expresses his commitment to preserving this living monument for another millennium, seeking ancestral blessings as the Rs 140 crore beautification project commences, aiming for completion by 2026.

The Chief Minister shares developmental updates for Sivasagar, including the transformation of Sivasagar College into a university, commencement of Sivasagar Medical College construction, and a Rs 187 crore project to enhance the Nazira road.

Notably, plans to relocate Sivasagar jail reflect the government’s dedication to infrastructural development, marking the onset of a developmental era in Sivasagar.

Chief Minister Sarma envisions a harmonious Assam, emphasizing science over agitation and aspiring to make Assam one of India’s leading states.
