Assam CM Introduces New Transparency Measures for ADRE 2024
Guwahati, September 22: In a significant move to enhance transparency and fairness in the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) 2024, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced key reforms on September 21. Addressing recent developments, Sarma revealed that candidates appearing for the Grade III exam will now have the opportunity to request a photocopy of their OMR sheets starting September 27. This measure aims to improve accountability in the recruitment process.
Candidates can submit a request to the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) for their OMR sheet by paying a nominal fee of Rs 50. Additionally, SEBA will publish the official answer key on September 28, allowing candidates to cross-check their answers and calculate their scores. This initiative is part of the government’s effort to maintain transparency in the evaluation process.
In a first-of-its-kind measure, candidates can also appeal any perceived errors in the answer key by depositing a Rs 500 fee. If the appeal is found valid, SEBA will refund the fee, ensuring fairness without encouraging baseless claims. The Chief Minister emphasized that these steps reflect the government’s commitment to transparency.
Responding to concerns over the inclusion of photographs on OMR sheets to prevent impersonation, Sarma confirmed that this practice will be removed from future exams, including the remaining phases of ADRE. He also defended the internet shutdown imposed during the exams, citing it as a necessary step to prevent malpractice, and referenced similar actions in other states like Jharkhand.
“These reforms demonstrate our dedication to ensuring a transparent and just recruitment process for all candidates,” Sarma concluded.
