Assam CM Lauds Pragyan Bharati Scheme’s Impact on Students

Guwahati, 1st July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised the state’s Pragyan Bharati scheme for its significant positive impact on students. On June 30, Sarma shared a video featuring Sushmita Biswas, a B.Com second-semester student who received a scooter after scoring 83% in her class 12 exams.

“I am very happy because I travel to college in this ride,” Biswas said in the video.

The Pragyan Bharati scheme, also known as the HS Scooty scheme, is designed to increase access to higher education for young women in Assam. By providing free scooters, helmets, and necessary documentation, the initiative aims to reduce dropout rates and promote gender equality.

Sarma emphasized his government’s commitment to continuing such empowering interventions for students, highlighting the scheme’s role in facilitating easier access to educational institutions.

“Our government, under the Pragyan Bharati scheme, has distributed scooters to meritorious students as a reward for their performance,” Sarma wrote. “This has made a positive impact on their lives, and we will continue to empower our children through such interventions,” he added.
