Assam CM Launches Healthcare Initiatives at Pragjyotishpur Medical College
Guwahati – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a series of healthcare initiatives at Pragjyotishpur Medical College in Birubari, strengthening the state’s medical infrastructure and expanding healthcare access.
Sarma emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing medical education, announcing plans to increase student intake at the college, with 100 admissions set for the next academic year. This move aligns with Assam’s broader strategy to bolster its healthcare workforce.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of a Mega Cancer Screening initiative, targeting one crore people across the state. This ambitious health drive aims to detect cancer cases early, enabling timely intervention and treatment.
Additionally, Sarma introduced a new software system to streamline operations in Assam’s medical colleges, improving resource management and administrative efficiency.
Reaffirming his commitment to accessible and high-quality healthcare, the Chief Minister stated that these initiatives mark a significant step toward transforming Assam’s medical landscape, ensuring better services for residents.
