Assam CM: Narcotics Worth Rs 1430 Crore Seized and 9309 People Arrested in Past 2 Years
Guwahati, 19 May: Assam government has launched the most successful war on drugs over the past two years, seriously harming both the supply and consumption networks. Drugs worth Rs 1430 crore have been seized so far during the operation and 9309 persons have been arrested.
Additionally, the Assam government has successfully eradicated 420 acres of opium and cannabis cultivation.
Earlier, it was observed that a number of youth choose the wrong road as a result of drugs,however, during the past two years the government has taken decisive steps to combat the drug epidemic and eradicate drug trafficking.
Dibrugarh Police under the direction of Suman Shah, OC of Barbaruah Police Station confiscated a significant amount of illegal substances and arrested four drug dealers in the area of Bogibeel Bridge this afternoon on May 15.
The police team pursued the Baleno car with the registration number AS06AA 8841 based on the information and was able to arrest the peddlers.
The Baleno car and 174.17 grammes of illegal substances suspected to be heroin were recovered by police during the operation.
Police arrested Chiranjeevi Pait, Dipankar Kutum, Baluram Dutta and Pabitra Kutum, all belonging to Silapathar, Dhemaji.
