Assam CM Offers Condolences as Avinash Sarkar’s Body Identified

Guwahati, 7th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed profound sadness today following the confirmation of Avinash Sarkar’s identity at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH). Avinash tragically lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday.

Taking to the microblogging site X, CM Sarma conveyed his heartfelt condolences, stating, “Deeply pained! 🙏 With a heavy heart, we have learnt that the child’s body has been found. My deepest condolences go out to his parents and family during this unimaginable time.” He also extended gratitude to the NDRF, SDRF, Police, and District Administration for their unwavering efforts in the search and rescue operations.

Earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had visited the Sarkar family on Saturday to express solidarity and oversee the ongoing search operations. He reassured the family of the government’s steadfast commitment to locating Avinash, despite the challenging conditions posed by the floods.
