Assam CM Praises PM Modi’s ‘One Nation One Election’ Decision
Guwahati, 1st September: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to establish a commission to explore the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, describing it as a landmark move.
In a media statement on Friday, CM Sarma expressed his satisfaction with PM Modi’s choice of appointing a commission to address the ‘One Nation, One Election’ matter. He also commended Ram Nath Kovind for accepting the responsibility.
“Today, PM Modi took a landmark decision by appointing a commission to address the issue of “One Nation, One Election,” and I am delighted that a person of Ram Nath Kovind’s stature has accepted the offer,” said CM Sarma.
Highlighting the financial implications of multiple elections, CM Sarma emphasized that India’s constant election cycle can hinder development and result in substantial expenditures. He noted that PM Modi’s endorsement of ‘One Nation, One Election’ is rooted in the belief that it will elevate India to new heights. Sarma expressed optimism that this proposal will reduce costs and stimulate development over the course of five years.
Himanta Biswa Sarma praised PM Modi for his bold decision and extended his congratulations to Ram Nath Kovind for undertaking this new responsibility.
