Assam CM: Road Accidents & Rhino Poaching Instances Declined Significantly
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 1 stated that the state had seen a considerable decline in both rhino poaching incidents and traffic accidents over the previous year.
On the first day of the new year, he made this statement while speaking with representatives of the print, digital and electronic media.
“2022 was a landmark year, probably after 25 years not a single case of rhino poaching was reported whether it be in Kaziranga, Orang, Manas or Pobitora National Parks. There has been a significant decrease in cases of rhino poaching although there have been remote cases of one or two incidents”, CM Sarma added.
In yet another progressive initiative undertaken by the state government, there has been a significant decrease in accidents in the state, especially on December 31 and January 1.
Last year, 15 people were reported killed in traffic accidents, down from the previous years’ reports of 50.
Unfortunately, Cachar reported three deaths yesterday or December 31, 2022: one in Golaghat, one in Tinsukia, and one in Dhemaji.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is confident that with ongoing efforts from the government and support from the populace, there will be no more occurrences of traffic accidents in the upcoming years.
