Assam CM Sarma Declares End of Leftist Era in Jadavpur During Bold Roadshow
Guwahati, 21st May: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 20 spearheaded a spirited roadshow in Jadavpur, making assertive declarations about the forthcoming 2024 elections. Sarma proclaimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to end the Leftist and Marxist dominance that has gripped the region since 1952.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd, Sarma criticized the entrenched influence of the Congress-Left and Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Jadavpur, mocking what he described as an ecosystem that encourages ‘Urban Naxals’. He expressed confidence that the BJP’s rise to power would inaugurate a new era, liberating the region from the ideological constraints of the past.
Sarma also launched a pointed critique of West Bengal’s governance under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a public rally in Kolkata. He questioned the state’s current trajectory, contrasting its present condition with its historical and cultural legacy. “What have you done to West Bengal?” Sarma asked, decrying the state’s perceived decline from its prestigious status as a cultural and intellectual hub.
Reflecting on West Bengal’s heritage, Sarma reminisced about significant landmarks like the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Museum and the Dakshineshwar Kali Mandir. He lamented that these icons no longer encapsulate the essence of Bengal. Highlighting the concerning prominence of “Sandeshkhali” in Google search trends, Sarma warned against allowing such notoriety to overshadow West Bengal’s identity. “Today, Dakshineswar Kali Temple is not the identity of West Bengal,” he stated, urging Mamata Banerjee to take decisive steps to safeguard the state’s cultural heritage and restore its former glory.
Sarma’s bold assertions and criticisms underscore the BJP’s strategy to challenge the longstanding political dynamics in West Bengal, positioning themselves as the harbingers of change and revival.
