Assam CM Sarma Flags Off Amrit Kalash Yatra From Guwahati to Delhi

Guwahati, 27th October: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma initiated the Amrit Kalash Yatra in Guwahati as part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” program.

The Chief Minister arrived at Guwahati Railway Station at approximately 5:45 am and flagged off the Rajdhani Express bound for Delhi, carrying 270 urns filled with soil.

This yatra commenced on September 20 this year and involved collecting soil from households in all Assam villages and municipal wards. The mixed soil was placed in urns in Guwahati.

These urns are scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Saturday to pay tribute to the independence struggle martyrs and honor their legacy.

The purpose of this yatra is to remember and follow the path shown by these martyrs. Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati stored a total of 540 urns.

270 of these urns were dispatched to Delhi, and an equal number will later be taken to Assam’s Gohpur for use in the foundation stone laying of the state’s proposed largest university.

The Amrit Kalash Yatra is a part of the Meri Maati Mera Desh program, aligned with the Amrit Mohotsav celebrations.

Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had encouraged people from each state to participate in the Amrit Kalash Yatra, with the collected soil to be used in establishing the Amrit Udyan.
