Assam CM Sarma inaugurates the distribution of scooters under ASRLM
Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday in Guwahati officially inaugurated the scooter distribution event for the Sakhi Express Scheme’s community cadres of the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM).
The community cadres of the ASRL Mission will receive at least 6670 scooters for the fiscal year 2021–2022.
Under the “Jeevika Sakhi Express” initiative ASRLM, a total of 4,238 scooters were provided in the fiscal year 2020–21, bringing the overall distribution of scooters to 10,908, according to the official.
Beneficiaries of “Sakhi Express” include “Krishi Sakhi,” “Bima Sakhi,” “Pashu Sakhi,” and “Jivika Sakhi,” among others, who serve as community cadres and members of self-help organisations in their respective fields.
Sarma expressed confidence that the “Sakhis” who have received scooters from ASRLM will work tirelessly to mobilise and inspire members of self-help groups to achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency.
The CM exuded confidence that the success of female-run self-help organisations’ members would significantly advance Assam’s goal of becoming one of the states with the highest per capita gross state domestic product.
Sarma lauded the state’s self-help groups for timely return of their loan instalments to banks and other financial institutions while discussing the significance of credit inflow in business operations of all sizes.
The Chief Minister makes sure that the bad loan portion of priority-sector lending stays within acceptable bounds, which encourages additional infusions of funding for the expansion of activities by the self-help groups.
CM also urged the “Sakhis” to inform the SHG members of the enormous market that the twentieth- and twenty-first-century technological advances offer.
The Chief Minister also used the occasion as a forum to emphasise the value of family planning.
Additionally, he asked the contemporary “Sakhis” to seek to educate rural people about the advantages of small families. According to the Chief Minister, a modest, contented family should always take precedence over a large, impoverished one.
Moreover, the Chief Minister urged the “Sakhis” to assist the government in the ongoing Aadhar-seeding process for a number of government-provided benefits, including Orunoday, etc.
